Your brain is a muscle
Under 30s need to read this…
I recently read an article in neuroscience news that mentioned dementia.
They said that older adults that sit and read as opposed to watching tv have a lower dementia risk.
Isn’t this common sense?
Why do we need to be told?
I think that social media has made a lot of people stupid.
When our grandparents were little they didn’t have mobile phones, I don’t even know if they had a television, if they did they had to tune in at select times, tv shows were well thought through with great story lines….!
Not these days!
Neurological disorders are becoming more and more common and I believe that the root cause of most of these disorders is technology.
Technology is fantastic, if you use it, but as soon as it starts using you it becomes destructive.
In the olden days they didn’t have cars, they traveled on a horse, so society was restricted because people couldn’t travel easily so they valued their community more.
They didn’t have tinder so they would go out and talk to people, and meet people in the real world.
They didn’t have texts when telephones were invented so they actually picked up the phone and spoke to each other!
Nowadays we’re all texting and no one picks up the phone unless it’s work related…
What has happened to us?
We’ve normalised so many abnormal behaviours.
When does this madness end?
When we have a brain chip to communicate with each other and forget about how nice it was to look into someone’s eyes and have a real, deep heartfelt conversation?
When was the last time you asked someone how they were and actually meant it?
Did you listen when they responded?
Did you share your feelings and thoughts in that moment?
Most of us are like robots, checking our social media, uploading photos, texting acquaintances and work colleagues constantly, but we don’t know how to connect with each other anymore.
The family unit which we all came from and which most of us aspire to create is being pushed aside and replaced with superficiality.
How many likes you get on social media is more important than how fulfilled you are at work and at home.
Make sure that your work fulfils you.
Make sure that you connect with people that are in alignment with you.
First you have to be in alignment with yourself and know who you are, and what you want from your life.
That is the foundation for everything else.
That’s why you have to meditate because in this busy world we’re constantly being bombarded with advertisements and social norms that are extremely abnormal.
We’ve normalised sickness.
If you sit down at a beach, park or cafe without a phone, tablet or computer and look up and observe your surroundings people will look at you like you’re crazy.
That’s how this crazy how obsession with technology is now.
Disconnect from the insanity.
Turn off your phone for a day or two each week.
Tell people that your phone will be off and arrange to meet them at a set time.
See if they’re capable of turning up without texting you 10 times first!
Buy a kitchen safe and lock your phone in it this weekend!
Set your mind free 😃
